Celtic Dance - Class Description

 

 

Age Requirements: All, Format: Classroom, Prerequisites: None

 

DESCRIPTION:

Celtic Dance class will briefly touch on Irish culture and dance history. Students will learn the basic steps and then advance into the more beautiful yet intricate dances while improving lower body coordination. Students will learn at least one full dance that they will perform as a part of the Spring Revue.

 

OBJECTIVES:

To explore a different cultures dance while enjoying Irish folk music and learning the values and poise of Celtic Dancing.

SUPPLIES:

Jazz or ballet shoes are recommended for a better dancing experience. Skirts are required for the girls at the Spring Revue.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Brisk dancing, laughing, and good memories.

 

REGULAR SCHOOL HOURS:

Check schedule to determine time of class. Students are responsible for showing up on time and making work up outside of class.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT:

Students will not be graded (unless in college); however, they will be evaluated by their attitude, participation level, ability to follow directions and complete the work required.

 

HOW TO SUCCEED:

To be successful in this class, students need to retain some of the steps learned over the term as well as perform their dance at the end of the term without the help of the instructor.  The greatest success will be found in doing their best and enjoying it!
